Will there ever be a Serious Sam III?

Ah, the good old games, like Serious Sam I & II. I dug them out of a box, loaded them up and have been fragging away for days now. 😀

Now that I beat the second one and saw the ending (which I'd long forgotten) it said "To Be Concluded!"

I.E. Sam is now coming to get Mental. SSII came out...3 or so years ago. Will there ever be a SSIII?

I think that a new engine has/is being developed for SS3 with lots of sparkly new features.
No idea when it will be out, but I think there is a #3 in the works.

It was amazing what Croteam did with their first engine.
I noticed something; it was VERY obvious.

The levels load FAST. Amazing how a "nobody team of programmers" from some unknown company made such an awesome, fast loading, attractive game engine...yet Far Cry levels take 30 seconds or more to load. (I love FC...just commenting on the obvious)

If you think FC is bad, you should check out HL2s loading system....

They're working on a Serious Sam 2.

(Yes, I'm aware there is a First Encounter and Second Encounter, but those are both part of the Serious Sam 1 engine.)

Yeah when I first heard about SS2 a couple months ago I thought back, because I had thought the 2nd encounter was a sequel, meaning SS2. It wasn't an expansion, it was a sequel. But they are calling this one SS2 because it's a new engine I guess. Think anyone will actually buy their engine? I bet it'll be better than the doom3 engine. The 2 games I've seen on that engine sucked.

SS2 is reserved for System Shock 2 😉

I loved serious sam for the shear volume of enemies that come at you from all sides. The mayhem and destruction is great.

Painkiller is pretty much like SS, but with undead enemies.

I like to think of Painkiller as a toned down SS. While that doesn't mean it is easier, Painkiller just tends to throw less enemies at you in comparison to SS, which would throw 200 enemies at you around every corner.

I've been anxiously/impatiently waiting for Serious Sam 2 for years now. I liked the first two games so much that I've refrained from trading/selling them and I bought them both when they first came out.

Excellent, crazy games. 😎

I'm playing painkiller right now, and I must say, the graphics are amazing!

I'm in the middle of fighting a 10 story giant ogre in a graveyard. I'm playing with everything maxed at 1280x1024 and my system is rock solid, I love it!

I can't get over how detailed the game is 😀

Serious Sam 2 will be out next year. I have had a couple of interviews with the Croteam guys and it looks like the game is going to be a ton of fun. Our forums (in sig) were born out of Serious Sam so if you feel the need to get a fix in DM or Co-op, stop by.
