Will There Be License Key Issues With a Re-Install on a New HDD?

The HDD on my Dell is dying(ticking). I've tried to clone the HDD, but it seems like the disk is FUBAR. Every time I get near the end(at the 3 minute mark) the clone terminates. So what I'm gonna do is just re-install the windows from the disk I got with the computer. Will this cause any licensing complications? I'm concerned if the new HDD will make the license think it's a new computer and will think I've given the key up. Will it need a new key? How many uses do I get of the key?

Thanks for any help.

Hard to say with Windows. Sometimes it flakes out, and you have to call MS. It's no big deal, and your key is still good.

Okay thanks, hopefully I don't run into any complications. Does it make any difference that is an OS thing from Dell and not straight out of a windows box?

That /should/ actually make it easier. Usually you don't even have to activate when using named oem software on the computer it belongs on. Again, there's no accounting for DRM peculiarities, but a phone call will straighten out any problems you may have.
