Since I already got an X2 720BE and didn't have luck with unlocking it, I am thinking about trying my luck with the X2 555BE.
I do not plan to overclock (if I do, that will be a separate thread)
I have read some forums where users have indicated that unlocking the 3rd and/or 4th core on the X2 555BE raises the temperature and is not something that is accounted for by the stock HSF. However, I see plenty of people talking about the stock HSF that they are using (albeit a crappy one).
So the question is: will I need a new HSF or not to just unlock the cores?
This may also impact whether I get another X3 or the X2 555BE. If I have to buy a new HSF, i'll probably just get the X3 since I am guaranteed 3 cores without doing anything and the C3 versus C2 is not a distinction since I don't have the time to learn how to overclock.
