Will the Retail version of HL2 be able to play DoD:source when it comes out?

No retail package will come with DoD:Source. That's not saying it wont be available after the fact though.

bump for any links

ValVe is going to kill DoD if they do not allow it. Hell, they are not the people who made it in the first place are they? Lame if they extort the labour of those who made DoD what it is and use it to try to force steam down everyones throat.

Don't let others fool you but -Valve- and Gabe were only in it for the money. Everything about this game says money. Steam, gaming scalability, the Law Suit with its publisher, no DVD version, the year delay, and the recruitment of voters for a customer appreciation award. Still a great game, execution upon release however was terrible.

Err, everywhere else got a DVD edition.
And the whole "year late" thing is BS. It was a year late because it needed to be. It wasn't finished, Gabe fvcked up when he said it would be released in 03.
DVD issue is a publisher thing (Vivendi).
Of course Steam is there for the money. Valve want money, why should Vivendi make money for something Valve made? From retail sales, Gabe says they make $7 a pop, out of $40 or $50 total.

How much do you think they get from Steam? A lot more. It makes business sense. I think that's also what the lawsuit is about. Do you want more HL? Then Steam is a good thing to let Valve get some money.

Everything about you says that you should STFU.
(No comment on the voter thing, I have no clue about it).
