well, if the treadmill wasn't moving with the current, and was sufficient in length...the plane should be able to take off ( assuming very low friction ).

Those pontoons look like they're just skimming the water. I think that it's going to take off!

Now, if you got some huge waves or something going on, that might change things!

If Mythbusters do this I hope they blow the plane up at the end for no scientific reason.

They also need an excuse to have Kari Byron in a skimpy swimsuit. Maybe they should sink it and make her recover the blackbox or something.

Depends on how much drag the pontoons could muster up. I imagine it would be different based on the viscosity of the liquid hte plane was sitting in.

IIRC float planes, like speedboats, go "on step" when they're taking off. Which means that for any real current velocity (anything that won't boil the water), they can take off, it just might take a longer run and more fuel.

If you're an optimist, the plane is taking off. If you're a pessimist, the plane is landing.

Is that bulk beef in your cargo hold, or are you just happy to see me?

It depends. If it has a tailwind and is in the southern hemisphere, I'd say no.
