will the new AMD 760 chip work in my abit kt7 motherboard?

Umm....yea 760 is a chipset...maybe you're thinking about Mustang and such? In that case...I would assume so but I don't know.

Ya, just yank out the chip sets on your mobo, and put those in.....naaa just kidding, you have to buy a new mobo with those chipsets.

that'd be expensive, a motherboard whose chipsets can be changed... hmmmm

really expensive =)

chipset only that is...

btw, this is one glimpse of the future where the core logic chipset(s), cpu and memory are part of the same piece of hardware to be exchanged like processors today are changed... that's integration for ya...

I think what he might have meant was will the new 133MHz FSB Athlons work in his current MB. But the answer is still no, you´ll need a new MB for them which is based on the AMD 760 chipset (or the new VIA 266 chipset).

Thanks oreo that is exactly what I meant. lol Sorry about the misunderstanding. I knew what I wanted to know but did not know how to ask it. Well duh! 🙂
