Will the latest games still do ok on my machine?

I don't wanna buy any hardware if I can help it.

My current system is:
AMD Barton 2600+
512 MB DDR something
PNY Ti 4200 AGP 8X with 128MB

I'm not a hardcore gamer (as you can prolly tell from my rig) but I'm interested in the games that get the great reviews. For example:
1. Call of Duty
2. Far Cry
3. Doom 3
4. HL-2

Is anyone playing these games with hardware comparable to mine? I just want it to look pretty good and not hiccup.

I had a very similar system and was mostly satisfied. Overclock that Ti4200! 🙂

Sounds good, time to load that copy of UT2004 that I bought many months ago and is still sitting under my desk! 😱

CoD and HL2 will run very well, but Far Cry and Doom3 won't run as well, though I imagine that Doom3 should run reasonably better than Far Cry. Download the demos to find out for sure.

COD ran fine for me on a Ti4200 with some eye candy turned off. The FC demo, on the other hand, didn't fair so well.

HL2 plays great at 1024x768 on my system:
1.4Ghz
512MB
ti4600 64mb

ya it will run in dx8 so should run hl2 and far cry fine...the opengl games should also run decent

COD should run very well, its not that impressive in the visual department. HL2 should run quite well on the DX8 path as well. FarCry and Doom 3 will run at lower res with eye candy turned off.
