with in 100 years or so, english, spanish and chinese will be the three most prominant languages. Oh wait they are already. I read an article a few days ago talking about how languages are disapearing faster than species of animals.

As long as we don't all talk like they did in Blade Runner with a mix of english, spanish, chinese, and japanese we'll be ok.

I think we'll be on universal translators before the whole world speaks one language aside from money

I took a course in that in junior high school. I read Winnie The Pooh in Esperanto. :p

Eventually, yes. English, no at least not as you would understand it. Language evolves. The reason different languages exist is because of isolation. As universal communication becomes more realistic, languages will come to have more in common. Eventually they will merge, and there ya go.

In 100 years? That's 3 generations... you think in 3 generations, the entire world is going to speak the same language? Highly unlikely. 200 years MAYBE, but certainly not in 100.

I imagine that given several thousand more years of evolution and interaction between various cultures, that a "universal" language will evolve, made up of a mishmash of various languages. There will probably still be different dialects of that language though, depending on the region you're from.
