Will someone setup gallery for me on my website for $?

Lucky

Lifer
Mind you...not $$$, but enough to compensate for your time. I'm being hosted by dixiesys right now. If gallery wont run on them I'd take another good gallery program (4gallery?) I don't know how long it would take so if anyone has suggestions on what would be an appropriate fee..please tell me.

(yay! I'm now a lifer. So depressing. 🙁 )

Im not sure how dixisys is setup, but I could give it a shot..

I got it running on Windows XP with apache (which was a nitemare). gallery

edit: linux should be easier, there was an issue with NetBPM on XP.

It's not all that hard. Try to do it yourself.

I had absolutely zero experience with web hosting and the likes but I was able to do it. I know very little coding in general, absolutely zero html, etc. Just follow the instrustions. 🙂

Hey,

I'm on Dixiesys as well and have set up Gallery. Did you follow the instructions in the README file closely? I think the only problems you will probably run into is making sure safe mode is off in PHP, which only Dixiesys can fix via a support ticket. Other than that I think you might have to install Netbpm (sp?) if the installation process can't find it. It might bug you about Jhead but it's not required to run gallery.

Ahh excellent rob3rt.. I have it (Gallery) up and running now, but just ran into the safe_mode error. Just need to get that ironed out, and all is well. (netpbm is already installed)..

Quick side question, i uploaded a .htaccess file for mod_rewrite support... but I cant find it on the server to chmod it.. any idea whats going on with that?

It's probably an INVISIBLE file in your httpdocs or public_html directory, try to tweak your FTP clients settings to reveal hidden files.

Ahh it was, thanks Ross. Didnt know my FTP Client hid hidden files by default.. im more used to Win32 servers.

Edit: everything is working now, just need to get the php safe_mode issue ironed out.
