Give him a break, its not like he works in IT.

irc he does

i own a small computer repair business, i do some networking stuff, but mostly just repair and upgrades... i know my stuff pretty decently though, i have an A+, CCNA, CCNP...

i just completely forgot i didnt set a password for the administrator accound and forgot to remove Administrators from the security tab for the drive that is the ftp root doh..

You have your CCNA and CCNP and you "forgot" about that? 😕

yeah, it happens... i set it up 5 mins before i posted the thread... and the reason i made the thread was exactly for that reason to make sure i didnt make any stupid little mistakes...which i obviously did 🙂

problem is corrected now... the main reason i set up the server was so that i could get to my OS images and software when im in a remote location and i might need them... thought it might come in handy.... and to share some stuff with friends... my my documents folder is also mapped to that server and is accessible now from anywhere i am, so if i need to make an invoice on site, or get to any other documents i may need for some reason...

I guess when people make fun of certs, its because of people like you. No offense, but this post was not needed if you had any clue about computers/networking/etc.

truly, is this the first time he's set up an ftp? i guess credibility is not required as long as you have some certs. not to mention downloading data off of a clients computer, i seem to remember some bestbuy being exposed for this practice.

Ummm.. guys.... it's ZANEJOHNSON.

Is that a euphemism for jail? Because I remember that.

Actually this reminds me of the time I had an account test with password test on a linux ssh gateway box I was working on. It was ready for production and I forgot about that account, the minute I forwarded the port to it so it's accessible from the outside, my whole network grinded to a halt and it got compromised by some bot that then was trying to compromise the rest of my network. This gateway was actually within a highly secured sub network so the only damage was the DDoS it created. I reformatted the box to be safe, and installed fail2ban.
