You didn't say that when congressional repubs leaked Comey's letter about Huma's email on Weiner's laptop...

Not illegal, though. It wasn't marked. Just a private letter he knew Chaffetz and the others would gleefully leak.

And then they can impeach her! Hahaha.

This sort of thing is comically desperate and transparent. Nobody is fooled. As current investigations keep getting worse for Trump he and useful idiots such as yourself will become more and more extreme in your attempts to deflect them.

His denial as to Russian interference in the election is telling. He's trying to do the same thing as Sessions- throw out every distraction they can come up with- voter fraud, uranium one, Steele dossier, Clinton Foundation & you name it. He's not alone, sad to say. Decades of right wing propaganda has broken down the cognitive defenses of all too many conservatives. They already believe in lies so it's easy to build on them. Trump as president is just the cherry on top.

Very little of it is illegal. The hacks of the DNC & Podesta were blatantly illegal, however. Release of the evidence against Flynn was technically illegal but so was Trump's refusal to act on it before somebody put their country ahead of politics.

The Trump team has exhibited a pattern of deception all along. It's how they got elected.

He might, but if so he’s basically buying into criminal activity by the president. More fuel for impeachment.

Sessions can create all the "special councils" he so desires to deflect and divert away from his deepening problems with Trump and their Russian connections, but the one thing that they can't deflect or divert from is Mueller and his team of investigators.

If things get so bad that firing Mueller becomes a viable option, it will be balanced off by the fact that firing Mueller at this time is way too late to have the desired effect while still being able to survive the resulting blowback from it.

It's good in the sense that Trump and his partners in crime are being put on the defensive. But it would be much better still if this controversy affected the abilities of the Repub controlled House and Senate to a much larger degree than it has in regards to their efforts toward blessing the very wealthy with more largess and perks that they simply don't need in any way, shape or form and especially so the Repub's ability to keep control of Congress.

As Jhhnn mentioned in post #28, the Repubs got handed their unified gov't based on a neatly packaged bundle of lies, with Trump being their #1 snake oil salesman extraordinaire selling the bullshit like no other.

That needs some retributive action if there is any true justice to be had.

It's likely Trump will move to do pardons. It is his best option by far to stifle the investigation and protect his family.

Agreed. But doing that will mark his administration and his legacy as one of if not the most corrupt and mismanaged administrations our nation will ever have had the displeasure to suffer under. A lose/lose situation with no way out and nobody to blame but himself.

I feel it's what Trump is having a major conflict with at this very moment. That Trump has this myopically driven mission to erase any and all of Obama's accomplishments from the nation's memory also leads me to believe that his own legacy is the most treasured and significant thing that he wants to leave the nation with after his term(s) are up. I'm sure at this very moment he is seeing his legacy being tarnished and marred by his own hand and will do his utmost to lay the blame of his failures and eventual demise on everything and everyone but himself in order to keep that legacy of his as the way he'd like for it to be remembered by.

With that in mind, if I were anyone in his inner circle, I'd feel trapped with nowhere to go but stick with Trump and keep that get out of jail pardon card close at hand. At the moment though, it looks like to me that it's already too late for them to bail on Trump but too soon to cooperate with the authorities. I can't imagine what it's like to have to wake up each morning with that being the first thought of the day popping up in their minds.
