"While the Justice Department is part of the executive branch — and the attorney general is appointed by and answers to the president — the White House generally provides input on broad policy goals and does not weigh in on criminal probes.

In that context, the letter is likely to be seen by some, especially on the left, as Sessions’s inappropriately bending to political pressure, possibly to save his job"

My, my! How far down the drain news about this administration originates.

Didn't Congress already open an investigation into Uranium One and the Clinton Foundation?? Not sure what else Sessions would have to gain EXCEPT for keeping his job.

It appears he’s violating his recusal and pledge to congress during his confirmation hearing in order to launch a politically motivated investigation to punish Trump’s political opponent.

I certainly support another special counsel appointed to investigate the Clintons, the DNC and the payment by the Democrats to the Russians for the dossier.

Crap he should have appointed one on Jan. 21st to investigate Hillary.

I for one am totally shocked. As I said before it’s interesting watching you flail desperately for distractions as things get worse and worse for Republicans.

It's a "find me a way" sort of directive. I doubt he has much sway over the deep state once it gets to career prosecutors in the DoJ... Boyd's remarks look a lot like "Yeh, we'll get right on that, Boss. Sure thing. You betcha. We'll evaluate it very carefully"... like to death, before they'll do anything...

Just as every time they investigate vote fraud the officials find it, I believe that when enough people investigate the DNC, Hillary and her e-mails, they'll find fraud. Let's wait and see.

The whole uranium one flap is the drizzling diarrhea of really weak shit. They gotta run it, because they've got to run something. If nothing else invoking Hilary hate will help keep the faithful in the pews. They're crazy for it.

Ohh look! Jhhnn and fskimospy rushing to the aid of their DNC chums! So late, as I said he should have had it prepped before he was sworn in and had it moving on day 1.

Poor Taj. I figure this will end up like Sessions' marijuana crackdown...

And if the Russians were the bad guys back in 2010, how did they become the good guys backing Trump in 2016?

Russians have never been good guys, they've been our sworn enemies for almost 100 years. Only when Roosevelt worked with his chum Stalin did they aid us.

Special counsels are appointed for situations in which there would be a conflict of interest. Hillary isn't in the White House, so you don't need any sort of special investigation. You'd just have a regular investigation overseen by regular justice department officials.

That being said, the Republicans won everything and they still can't give it up with the Clinton witch hunts? Come on, guys. The Clintons are politically nonexistent now. Stop beating that horse already.

Looks to me like so long as Trump and his Repub Congress is in deep shit like they are at this very moment Hillary bashing will be at the top of their diversion and deflect list of things to do. Hillary must be lol'ing her ass off and basking in the attention that these scumbag Repubs have been paying to her.

Too bad the Repubs are also using her as a smokescreen to cover their dismantling of the gov't protections and services it provides to the working class along with all those other underhanded traitorous ploys and sundry skullduggery they're committing against the people.

So let us start counting again how many more special councils and the associated wasted time and costs will be piled on top of the ones the Repubs have already wasted our precious tax $$$ and gov't time on.

I'm sure it will include the DNC and the Clinton Foundation. Face it, those don't pass the smell test, they don't even pass the stench test. Time for the Feds to find out what's rotten at the DNC.

I've said this before as a way to smack the Repubs back with their own words and I'll say it again:

C'mon Repubs, Hillary lost. Get over it. ;)

I think this is the first time I've actually seen you admit that Trump couldn't have fairly won the election.

What is it going to take for you to really really abandon him. The façade is crumbling before our eyes. The only hope of salvaging any self respect that I can see is not to be the last in denial. I had great hopes for Obama but he let me down. I can sympathize.

What will they find at the DNC, other than a track record of sheer incompetence?? Poorly funded, and when they are funded they can't manage their money, nor can they figure out which candidates to support or which districts to field candidates in! Two random grassroots groups spring out of nowhere and are able to get a tranny and anti-gun guy elected in Virginia? You kidding me?? The DNC would've laughed those candidates out of office.

I wish incompetence were criminal (Trump would be out of a job) but unfortunately it isn't.

Given that, it must be obvious even to you that they didn't have MAGA on their minds when they unleashed a brilliant & massive propaganda campaign to help Trump get elected. They stood shoulder to shoulder with Trump & the Repubs through the whole process.

No they didn't, i'd love to see your proof about that. In fact wasn't it Hillary and Co. that paid for the whole thing dossier pack of lies thing?

Lol we actually agree: this is exactly like voter fraud investigations. Like I said, the desperation is real.

They'll find it, it's just a matter of how bad it's going to be for the Democratic Party, the DNC, the Clinton Foundation and Hillary.

And then they can impeach her! Hahaha.

This sort of thing is comically desperate and transparent. Nobody is fooled. As current investigations keep getting worse for Trump he and useful idiots such as yourself will become more and more extreme in your attempts to deflect them.
