Will Sears haggle?

If I show them the price of an online dealer, like Amazon will they haggle over the price?

You sure? How about Best Buy or Circuit City? Amazon's prices are much lower than Sears or even the other two stores, but shipping is pretty expensive.

No. Please try and let us know what they say though.

The only "deal" I would expect would be a overall price break if you agree to buy extra warranty coverage and accessories.

Extended warranties are scams.

Maybe I'll try Tweeter and see what happens. There are alot of places in my area that sell electronics so I might get lucky.

They are not car dealerships. They will not haggle.
Heck even most new car dealerships wont hagge nowadays.

Although you could always try the car haggling technique with them. They have to move inventory too. I bet it doesnt take too much work to get the manager to give you a special discount, provided you dont spread the word around.

My unlce chuck begged and pleaded with the Dell saleslady over the phone. Saying that since he was a Vet he should get a special discount. It took an hour but she broke down and sold a 2400 dollar computer for 1400 bucks.

um, Sears has been known to price match even obscure online stores. i did so with a camcorder a few years ago. they may have gotten a bit stricter now but i'm sure they'll still match more reputable online shops or competitors. bring in a printout. what's the worse that can happen? they say no and you'll be none the worse. they say yes and you'll have saved some bucks.

Watch out for the clueless, annoying Tweeter sales people, though :Q

LOL at people who think sears doesn't haggle.

never ever pay retail for electronics.

every electronics store will haggle, if they don't go somewhere else.

I guarantee Sears will match prices with all local Brick & Mortars.

They no longer price match web vendors, due to being pummeled mercilessly in the past by yours truly... sorry. 😀

They did for me when I got ms Sony Wega KDF-55WF655. They told me to come in on Saturday morning befor noon. I did and they gave be 10% off the set and $50 off a stand. I price matched CC, BB and ComPUSA and Sears was best price by far. They also delivered and set it up reasonably.

Yeah, Sears will haggle on occasion. I once got a $350 Toshiba flat screen TV for $259 because the Magnavox equivalent of it was on sale that weekend but out of stock.

Every store will haggle, especially on consumer electronics (markup is so high)

Especially sears.

Yes. All of you saying no have obviously not bothered to try. If a salesman/associate is earning commission, he will do what he can to make the sale....

Exactly. It is your money.

Funny how you say "I'll give you X for that TV/product/camera, whatever"

"I can't do that"

"fine, I'm gonna go buy it online"

salesguy running out following to the parking lot - "wait! wait! we can do that! wait!"

You got it. 🙂

Yes, if you are spending enough money and talk enough bs, they will haggle a bit.
Every store haggles, if you think they don't you're a sucker.

I live on a 3rd floor walk-up, so it's important that they bring it upstairs for me. That's generally why I'd rather purchase it from a local store.

Either way, after taxes and such it ends up costing the same price.

Do you consider McDonalds a store?
What about Chilles and Outback Steakhouse?
Do they haggle?
What about the Lamborghini dealer in Hollywood?

EDIT: How about the Pharmacy?
Can I haggle down a bottle of $600 medicine?

I'm not denying any claims made here, I'd just like to know how to go about it. I hate paying too much for stuff. I heard a lecture once on how to haggle with a car dealer but I dont practice enough to be good at it.
