Will SATA NCQ cause problems?

I did a search and it turned up people having problems with a solo SATA disk - getting "no IDE HDD installed" errors and such. I'm considering Seagate's 7200.7 SATA150 NCQ, as I plan on using this drive for atleast 5 years. I was wondering : will having SATA or NCQ make this drive unable to boot, or unable to install windows on?

Oops: I've got an Abit KV8, my old 60GB Maxtor died 2 weeks ago.

Not shure - never used anything but PATA for storage. Just wondering whether or not it would interfere.

I'd assume that SATA is bootable, but not entirely shure about NCQ compatability with older non-NCQ boards.

Sure, SATA works fine. You might need to add the drivers into XP during the install (hit F6 near the beginning and stuff).

Explain what NCQ does, I always thought it didn't help on desktops.
