Will replacing my h100 stock fan with noctua fan make it more quiet?

No question. I played around a bit with an H100 and an NH-D14 (thread here) which included swapping fans around and taking noise measurements.

The fan that come with the H100 are (1) inexpensive, and (2) effective.

You will be hard pressed to find non-stock fans that provide the same cooling performance with the H100, but just about anything you use will be quieter.

last week i created a thread on ocn and got a lot of replies that stock fans on h100 can be replaced w/ a lot of better fans out there, not sure if they would really be better but i like what this guy did, planning to do the same. :hmm:

It would be nice if they could start building the radiators into cases so we could get some huge ones with at least two 140mm fans on them.

So much effort for so little gain. I'd rather get myself an XSPC Rasa RS240 if I could find a kill coil first. With my ambient at least 5-10C higher than his, the H100 will not be able to keep up as the temp rises.

Corsair 800D?

What would the options be for a better prformance fan if noise was not a concern?

From purely a cooling standpoint, four stock H100 fans in push-pull would be superior.

I replaced my H100 fans (it only comes with 2) with four noiseblockers in push-pull config.

The 4 noiseblockers are quieter than the 2 stock fans but it also cost me ~$120 for those 4 fans 😱

(which is why I said cost and performance in my post)

Taking a $120 H100 and turning it into a $250 H100 with expensive fans and so on is silly to the extreme.

I did it just to see what it would take, but anyone who really wants a $250 watercooling solution should just get a legit watercooling setup IMO.

That's not replacing 1 stock fan with 1 non-stock fan and getting the same (or better) performance.

That is replacing 2 stock fans with 4 non-stock fans in push/pull and getting better performance.

Totally different scenario.

I would recommend no one run their H100's in straight push or pull only config, but if you are and you want to replace the 2 stock fans with 2 non-stock fans then you are going to be hard-pressed to find fans that can outperform the stock fans while being less noisy.

i dont think you can get a legit setup for 250 ;__;

This is why I haven't gone water cooling, its ridiculously expensive to get something better than air. I wouldn't even mind doing the work and maintenance, its just too damn expensive. I considered the H100 but it just isn't an upgrade over air. They need to sell a kit for <$140ish that is a definite upgrade over any air cooling and I'd get that, but to go for a legit water setup you spend 100 on just the pump, its dumb.
