Question Will Radeon RX Vega 64 work on the old computer?

Thinking of upgrading to new GPU since I want to buy 32" 4k monitor in the near future or when that monitor will be available because it was sold out.

I have:
Z97A Gaming 6 motherboard
i7-4790K 4GHz
AMD Radeon R9 Fury
16GB RAM
Seasonic 80plus platinum 660w
Win10

You should be fine. The only concern I would have is the PSU. A Vega 64 can use quite a bit more power than a Fury, depending on which model Vega it is, and which BIOS it is running on. The reference models on the 2nd BIOS with 'Turbo' enabled can use over 300W. But in PowerSaver on the first BIOS is down at around 200W. Just be aware of what mode its in.

if it weren't a Seasonic PSU I've have said no, big Vega is pretty power hungry--as others have indicated.

Also, use separate 8-pin cables from the PSU if you can.

Vega 64 should work fine in your PC. However, if you haven't already purchased it, I would suggest looking into getting a Radeon 5700 (non XT) or 5600 XT if they're available to you at a similar price. More efficient architecture, less power hungry, and more of a substantial upgrade over the Fury.

Edit: Correction, to be decisively better than Vega 64 you would want a 5700 (non XT).

The drivers haven't been 'meh' for quite some time. They were certainly iffy a year ago at launch. But not the case anymore.

Fair point. Vega 64 actually edges out the 5700 in a few games at 4K, likely due to higher memory bandwidth. HBM was a millstone around Vega's neck in a lot of ways, but it had some benefits. So if Igo69 can find a Vega 64 for a lower price than a 5700, it may suit his needs better. This is assuming he's getting either on the used market, since Vega isn't really sold new anymore.

Though it's worth noting that playing modern games smoothly at 4K will probably require dialing down settings on either card. For no compromises 4K gaming you'd be looking at getting something like an RTX 2080.

For my part btw, I've never had driver issues with my 5700 XT.

Absolutely; I had a Vega 64 with my 4770K for quite a while.

It may be worth it to way the launch of the new AMD and nVidia series, since the new 32" monitor hasn't arrived yet.
If you want to seal the deal now, and you intend to keep this new card for a few years, I'd recomend getting a 2060 Super instead. Don't get me wrong, I got a 5700 and I'm pretty happy with it.
But since Mesh Shaders, Sampler Feedback and Variable Rate Shading were declared being integral parts of the new consoles' APIs, I think that a 2060 offers slightly better future proofing.

Yeah, 5700 XT is an all around better card in every way (minus price perhaps, as Vega cards are all used). AMD will be announcing new cards soon-ish, so if you have waited this long, probably worth waiting a bit more.

Love mine, never had problems with it. It is power hungry though. I'm waiting for the next round of AMD cards to see what they come up with.
