Will PS2 Lag

I'm looking for a composite tuner to play ps2 > (mainly Marvel Vs Capcom) Will there be lag?

Which tuner is the fastest.

I would like to know this as well.

I had tried playing my ps2 on my x1900xtx video-input and it was lagging severely.. Of course this is not an actual tv-tuner on my card.. even though I wish it worked as well (as real-time) as a real tv-tuner.

I'm also wondering what kind of tv-tuner I would need so that the input could be PAL and the output would be NTSC ?

see I don't feel like spending 300$ to get a pal to ntsc live converter.. and my television set isn't a multi-standard and PAL movies/games don't only show up as black and white but they also roll.. and I'd like a solution to this.. if you have any suggestions please post them!

thanks!

Here's a few steps to sweet PS2 gaming on your PC.

1) Buy a Compro Videomate DVB-T300. Does both analogue and digital TV.
2) Download and install Dscaler.
3) Hook up your PS2, tweak Dscaler to perfection and you're away!

Worked great for me. The included software's fine for watching TV, but *terribly* laggy for playing games. Dscaler fixes that problem beautifully though!

Makes me wonder if you can make ffdshow work with the PS2 😛

Do the PS2 games look better by playing them on your PC through the video-card? How much is the Compro Videomate DVB-T300?

I wanted to buy a theater 550 is Dscaler compatible with that? and will it do the lag thing? Because from what you've said it isn't the Tuner that'll fix the problem, it's dscaler

so.. am i understanding this correctly.. the solution offered above WILL convert a pal signal to ntsc on the fly ? but it will only work if i want to play my ps2 pal games directly on my PC LCD right ?

please confirm that part.. and would there also be a way to output the video to a TV from the tv-tuner ?

PAL?? you can't output to a TV from a tuner, But most GFX cards will have video out (TV-Out). If you want to play PS2 on ur LCD, the LCD isn't a limiting hardware, PAL will work with nearly all cards. You just have to get teh right software to run it.

THe issue here is LAG. because most encoders will take time. So far I just discovered ChrisTV and it works perfectly with my VIVO X1900xtx and plays the games with NO lag. THE ONLY problem is the Color is not very good, but i guess i can't expect too much with Composite interface. BUT it is VERY playable. My 30" probably has something to do with the graphics looking shabby.
