Will power outtages damage my computer?

I just moved into a new apartment and the power keeps goes out sometimes when I turn on the microwave. I've tried different outlets, but it doesn't help. My only real concern is my computer. I haven't noticed any problems, and the computer is connected to a surge protecting power strip. Should I be worried?
Thanks

if the power goes out when you use an appliance you're in danger of electrical fires. as for it damaging the pc, YES! A electrical problem of that nature needs to be fixed, it's a safety hazard.

The main problem is that you can get corrupted data and bad sectors when a hard drive loses power during write. Data may still be in the buffer, as in stored on the HDD's RAM but not written to the drive, and it will be lost if power goes out.

he has a bigger ;problem, if you read the wiring in the apaerment is a safety hazard, and prbably a potential fire hazard.

No, get an electrician to check the wiring. Either that or the microwave is defective and a fire hazard.

Go UPS and have the circuitry checked.

get the landlord or rental agency in there and also call the city agency that regulates apartments, if the landlord/agency refuses to fix the issue.

If the power is going out when you use the microwave, you have overloaded the circuit. See if you can find what breaker it is using and see if the wiring supports a larger amp rating. If so see if your landlord can do it. If not you should invest in a ups, power outages are pretty tough on circuitry since the surge comes when the power comes back on

I would not try ignoring the issue with using a UPS, you've got a EXTREMELY series issue that needs to be fixed before you do anything else.

Agreed. An UPS might be a good idea anyway, but only after the problem is fixed.
