i am looking at getting an HP 1910 Pocket PC which has pocket pc 2002 and i am curious if it will be able to be upgraded to pocket pc 2003 ???

thanks in advance

Not unless the vendor (HP) offers it.

PocketPC OS is compiled differently for every PDA device, there is no generic PPC 2003 OS you can buy to install.

Yes it'll be upgradeable.

Read what Dave said. It's not 100% certain that HP will offer an upgrade for the 1910. It only has a 16MB Flash ROM (compared to 32MB for the other PocketPCs) so any upgrade to 2003 would be SIGNIFICANTLY neutered and not even worth the effort.

I did. And i will bet that HP will offer an upgrade for it, neutered or not. I actually preferred them taking out all the crap i don't need, and if i need it, i'll install it in the main memory.

how would one be able to find out if HP would be able or willing to offer the upgrade ? will they just post it on the website or will you have to inqure as an individual ?

Website and an email to customer service, though you'll probably get the "we do not announce future products" companyspeak.

It's definitely a risk to buy based on there being an update -- HP has failed to provide driver updates for new OSs in the past for printers, scanners, etc., and has not followed through on other updates (first generation DVD-RAM burners were supposed to get an update that was later dropped).

You aren't "entitled" to an OS upgrade, so don't count on it. HP will do it if it's technically feasible and makes good business sense.

I hope my 5455 will have an upgrade! Just got it yesterday by using my Best Buy warranty that was on my e740 that was on my 3765! 😀
