Will PCp&c dell PSU fit in non-dell cases?

They are physically the same dimensions and mounting points as standard ATX/PS2 PSUs, it's the mobo connectors that are different... BTW, there is a special section now for PSU questions.

Judging by the pictures of the connectors, it looks like a standard power supply to me.

I don't know exactly what makes it "Dell Compatible" (or better yet, what makes other PSUs incompatible), so you may want to research that. Luckily it isn't like my boss's old XPS PSU. That thing had it's own dimensions, cable lengths, and cable connectors. I couldn't even get a replacement to test if the motherboard had gone too.

Yea, everything looks the same as a normal PSU. I don't like top mounted fans on PSUs (think they fight against the back to front air flow) and at the 50 dollar point the alternatives are lacking : (

Was reading customer reviews and ran across:

"Pros: I do not have a dell and mistakenly ordered this one instead of the PPSC500.

I spoke with PPC tech support and they stated that this is the same unit internally as the PPCS500.

The difference: 10 mm in length (140mm Dell version vs 150mm) and a manual power switch on the back. The screw locations are the same for mounting.

The cables are identical and pinouts are the same. You can compare the two on their site and the cable drawings are exactly the same.

So those who would like to use this on a non Dell build.. you can.

The difference is that"

Yeah, I looked at the connectors and they did look standard, but I didn't do a pin for pin verification with the standard pinouts on the formfactors.org web site. It did look like on an 8-pin connector, the PCP&C 500W Dell unit had a ground where a +12V would be on a normal connector... So double check the pinouts and go for it if it suits your needs.
