Will PC6400 DDR2 slow down and be compatible with PC5300 DDR2

I've only used DDR memory. I know that PC3200 DDR memory can run at PC2700 speeds. Is the same true with DDR2 memory?

I have 2 GB of PC5300 DDR2 and 4 GB of PC6400 DDR2. Can I use them together to build a system with 6 GB of DDR2 memory running at PC5300 speed?

How many sticks would that be? You may encounter problems when utilizing too many sticks (like 4) with some motherboards. Also 6gb of RAM is totally useless if you use a 32-bit operating system, as they will only utilize a bit over 3gb of RAM if you have more than that. (exact amount of RAM visible for machines with 4+gb ram seems to depend on graphics card vRAM, the more vRAM, the less you will see RAM.. i think(just my guess))

The simple answer is yes, the two speeds should function together very well. I have a machine that has 2 x 1GB of 6400 and 2 x 1GB of 5300 in it right now.....and the 5300 is OC'd to 6400 speeds. On the other hand, the 6400 initially was running at its rated speed and the 5300 was at its rated speed when the 6400 RAM was added onto the m'board with the 5300 RAM. Had to manually reset the speeds. It was odd to see two sets of RAM running at two different speeds....this is on a Gigabyte P965 m'board.
