Will PC133 SDRAM work with the NEW Asus A7M266 motherboard?

I will be receiving the new Asus A7M266 Athlon DDR motherboard early next month for a FULL review here at AMD3D.com. I will post my findings on my website soon ... I can't wait 🙂

I need to know will PC133 SDRAM work with it ... or do I have to find some PC266 DDR Ram?

PC2100 (266MT/s) DDR-SDRAM slots are not backwards compatible with PC133 SDRAM and this particular board only has the former. You'll need to buy new memory. It's hard to find, but not completely unavailable. Prices are a little high at the moment.

Some of the new 266Mhz DDR AMD boards WILL include normal SDRAM slots AND DDR slots.... so you can use one or the other... Im not sure if the Asus will do that or not.

It doesn't. I double-checked this before I posted. It's DDR-SDRAM only.

The ALi DDR Athlon chipset supports both I believe...and it's possible Via's will to I'm not sure, but the A7M266 is based on AMD760 which is DDR only AFAIK.

Only if the board has the "slots" for normal SDRAM.

They are not "PIN Compatable" being they are different voltages.

As some of them have said, some companies will make boards with "both" 168 pin AND 184 pin slots. Kinda like the old "VX" mobo's had both 72, and 168 pin slots.

You'll only be able to use either/or type.
