"Will" over "instinct" (food and thanksgiving)

Okay, curious about how many here have willfully not eaten for more then three days. Keep in mind, this is not just getting distracted by work or life and not eating, I mean actually making yourself not eat or drink for three days. Considering the human body can go near a week without food or water, three days seems like a small thing. I personally have gotten to about 36-48 hrs, but almost unconciously I finally drink or eat something. So what were your hurdles, tips or goals in this endeavor. With thanksgiving coming up, figured this would be an apropo thing to discuss. 😛

I don't know what this has to do with Thanksgiving, but yes... I participated in a 72 hour fast every year while in highschool, to raise money for a local soup kitchen that I worked in (we were allowed to drink water, tea, and coffee).

it wasn't that hard, as long as you're going through it with friends who can keep you from cheating 🙂

I skip breakfast on a regular basis.

What is the point of not eating or drinking ? Except for understanding how bad it would suck to not have the choice, I don't get it.
