Yes there are.

What would be great is if Bush goes on to win the election, and then Moore wins best Director or F9/11 wins best picture. What would Moore's acceptance speech be like?

"Uh, geez thanks everybody, but I guess it didn't work. Oh well." LOL

On a side note, I believe there are only 3-5 facts in 9/11 which were not supported.

Gross do not usually play a big part in which films win awards. I would not consider them relevant to your discussion in regards to these two films.
A lot of those sales were bulk tickets sold to Churches.

give me a break, wheres the proof that jesus was tortured just like in that movie, and also, doesn't satan make an appearance, i'm sure that has been proven, what a joke!

Many historians have studied the true history and proven that Jesus existed and those events took place. You don't have to believe in God or believe that Jesus was the son of God to accept that. I will concede that the satan part cannot be "proven" by historians...but The Passion was not a "documentary".
Eh, I suppose it was "The Greatest Story ever told". Besides the Bible is there any other written documentation that tells of the last fews days of Jesus? I've seen ail the Discovery Programs about it and the best they could do is say that it is possible.

I am pretty sure that the Koran mentione Jesus as the prophet... It was prophet Isa in Koran..

Does that make the sales any less legitimate?

I would say that fact is immaterial to the discussion.

Sorry, but TPOTC was one of the most moving and beautiful films (in terms of cinematography) I have ever seen.

To those who say it sucks: you suck!

Hey, I'm all for Christians getting pissed off and vocal!

BTW, I refuse to opinionate on F911 since I have not seen it. To all those who say TPOTC sucks: did you see the film?

Yes there are.
😕

Ummm.... care to elaborate? List titles? Times they were written? Authors? You know, relavent stuff like that?

I figure they'll both be nominated. Passion in several categories, F911 for director and documentry. Passion might win some minor award like costuming, but will be snubbed for anything big. Since I can't really say what F911 would be up against, I can't say how it might do. Though it'd be nice (and ironic) for Moore to get passed over in favor of Morgan Spurlock and Supersize Me 😀

Nope but then I didn't say it sucked. I also didn't see F911 either. I already know the Story of Jesus and I'm sure that there was nothing in F911 that would change my opinion of the Dub and his nefarious network of NeoCons.

Yeah, I suffered through them both, since the college had a free showing.

If it wins an Oscar, I'm going to make a movie about beating the sh!t out of the Easter Bunny and make millions.

In a previous post, I mentioned that I don't have the references available to me right now but if interested, a book called The Case For Christ has references in it.

Yes, I saw it. Yes, the cinematography was great. The costumes were great. The production value was good.

But here's the movie -- hit Jesus, whip Jesus, watch Jesus fall down in slow motion. Rinse. Repeat.

moores movie isn't a documentary and shouldnt be in the same catagory; unless you consider movies like bowling for colombine, triumph of the will, and birth of a nation to be documentaries

A biased documentary is still a documentary. And all documentaries are biased to some degree.

[p&n rant] And Farenheit 9/11 was really just a propaganda film. It's so full of outright lies. Watch FahrenHYPE 9/11 for the real story. [/ p&n rant]

That is what confuses me. It is a movie about political satire; a fantasy, if you will. Jon Stewart said it best when he visited Crossfire on Friday ... something to the effect that neither side does the public a service, by consistently pushing such highly dubious propaganda, and pretending that it is believable.
