Think that Boeing's recent history of fraud, waste, corruption, and abuse convictions might have contributed to the decision?

Present Lockheed collective has a more robust base to draw from.

Rocketdyne's (Boeing via Rockwell) old liquid fuel engines are pretty much not a mystery to build successors to,
and Lockheed has been more active in launch operations for both the Military and NASA than Boeing has been,



 
You can count on Lochkeed Martin to deliver the good on time and within budget, and if not, they will still do a far better job than the next closest competition.

anyway. I really really hope they can do something better then the shuttle. I think space exploration is something we need to do. heck i am willing to pump more into it then thins like Iraq or keeping presidant bush safe and happy.
