Will my system bottleneck the X1900?

I am planning on getting the X1900XT or XTX, but was not sure if my system would bottleneck the GPU.

Mobo: MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum
CPU: AMD 64 3500+ Winchester 939 (no OC, never tried OCing)

If my CPU/mobo won't cut it, I am thinking of an upgrade--at least to a point where it can match the performance of the X1900. Can I hear some suggestions?

This upgrade is for running ES4 Oblivion on 1900x1280 high settings @ 50+FPS.

Thanks.

How much money do you have ?

You could buy a top end HSF and try to OC it to 2.6 or better, that wouldn't bottleneck the card too much at 4xAA/1920 et al

I think we may have some confusion here.
There is no system currently available in which an X1900 will be a bottleneck.

Your CPU may be a bottleneck by comparison. Looking at your system I dont think that will be an issue anyway.

I have the slowest sckt 939 CPU there is. I dont consider it a bottleneck unless I'm playing an RTS and I completely fill the map with units, which is entirely possible in Act of War.

I think my PSU is an Antec 400watt. (can't check, at work)

Playing Oblivion at those settings is going to be an uncompromised condition, so I don't really have a budget in mind...

actually my friend has his FX57 at 3.3 and he went from a 7800GTX to a 1900XT and he said his fps improved, so its possible that a game might be fps limited by the gpu.
stick with your 939 socket mb and find a better cpu. the 939's are a good socket if you currenlty have that platform. i am hearing that the new AM2 systems (DDR2) are on par with the DDR when some games are concerned and when it bests them, its not by much. if your mother board supports it,you can either get a dual core cpu like an Opteron, which are highly overclockable. The Opteron 165 stock Ghz of 1.8 with a 9x multiplier, can get up to FX60 speeds of 2.6Ghz; and the 165 core-Denmark = Toledo, which is an FX60 core.

EDIT: and get the 1900XT not the XTX, its not worth the 100 extra dollars for minimal performance gain in the range of 1-2%
