will my software run in x64

I am thinking of upgrading to x64 to utilize my pc to its fullest, plus I am an IT student. I would like to know if my software will work in x64.

All 32bit software should work on x64 except drivers, and most hardware companies have released decent 64bit drivers by now, so you should be ok.

I would do a quick search on the forums at planetamd64.com. I found answers to a lot of my questions there when I switched to XP64.

And than the point of running an x64 os is than what?

From what I understand, you can't run 64bit software on 32bit Windows, so I guess that would be "the point of running an x64 os."
