Will my RIG Run these games at high?

resolution at 1024x768 with high textures and trilinear filtering. When i Play COD, It sometimes restarts. Is this cus of my weak PSU?

HL2 performance may be on the borderline of playable at those settings but I havent specifically looked at how a 9600 performs.

Also, is it a 9600 Pro, SE or XT? That would make a signifigant difference.

The other games I havent had experience with but Id assume that at least both Max Paynes will be playable enough.

What brand is your PSU? It does seem weak but a 300W good brand PSU would worry me less.

Max Payne: This game will run flawlessly
Max Payne 2: This should run pretty good.
Mafia: I've never played this before, but judging from some sceenshots, it doesn't look too demanding.
Half Life 2: Should be boarderline playable like Elcs mentioned. Source engine is pretty forgiving, though.

And yes, do mention the brand of your PSU. A quality brand 300W PSU will power that system and a whole lot more.

My comp is an Emachines T6000. Yea, i kno, ROFL! Not sure about the tyoe of video card or the PSU. Sorry!

The restarting sounds like an overheating problem. Try running the game with your case cover off. If you can, position a house fan to cool the inside.

Do any other games have this problem?

well, i called them and they said that when your CPU overheats, it shuts off, not restarts. Im 200% sure it isnt a corrupted file 2 because i just recovered my system. Only when i run at high textures and trilinear settings does this happen. The frame rate is fine, but itll just randomly restart.

Don't listen to Emachine's tech support. Depending on WHAT may be overheating in your system (CPU, vid card, even motherboard chipset), your machine may restart, lockup, turn off, or spit out an error.

Also, do you have the latest patches/updates for COD? And the lastest drivers from Ati?

i have the latest drivers and such. But doesnt ur comp shut down when it overheats? It makes no sense to restart.

I recommend uninstalling your 300w PSU, installing a 150w PSU, then moving the machine into long-term storage and not fiddling with these newfangled computer thingies any more.

I was thinking of buying 1 GB of Corsair TWINX DDR 400 RAM "

Are you sure you even have any idea whats in your sytsem?

Not Really. You just Need to submerge the Machine in saltwater to achieve a Proper ground before you Take it Out, troll.

Try Prime95 and see how long it will run....If it is overheating, it should crap out within 5 minutes or so.

does it have spyware/adware/trojains

Go to Gator.com and download their spyware checker. That'll give you a better answer than we can give as to whether it has "trojains". Alternately, the planned-parenthood section of any health-oriented website is a good place to find out what to do with Trojans. Good luck!

[sarcasm]No. Your Rig won't run these games at high. Your processor will wake up and lift the heatsink off, then open the side panel and slap your face and put a brand on your side.[/sarcasm]

Do a memtest86 run and see if you ram is at fault.

Prime95 is good as well to see if your box is stable.

I have seen HL2 run fine at that resolution on:
2200+
512MB PC2700 level2
Soyo KT400
Radeon 9700pro
Thermaltake 400W PSU (or something like that)

The 9600 may not be able to do 1024x768 at high everything. 800x600 is certainly viable though.

Changing psu is not hard. Before you touch anything inside your case, touch the steel part of the case and ground yourself of charge. Unplug all power cables internal and external. Unscrew psu. Take out carefully making sure that you dont bump it into any components. This is assuming you have an ATX form factor psu and it isnt some proprietary junk.

Your ram should be fine. Difference in game play for cas 2 to cas 3 is like 4 fps at most i would think. 768MB is bare minimum for HL2 as when I play, my sys resources are at 750MB utilized.
