My fiance just brought me home a guinea pig as a present. The pet store is already closed when I noticed that "Charlie" is missing fur on the back and rear end. The small patches have what looks like scabs ( ie scrapped knee) and small red wounds that resemble an insect bite. Is there anything we can do for him? We also have a four month old kitten that was nuzzling him right before i noticed....is she at risk ?

Edit: Thought different title would grab more attention :)
Edit2: Added Pics see below

Threads with misleading "sexual" titles may get by, but not when you have to use alternate spellings just to get past the language filter. We don't need threads with titles like that, regardless of the content inside.

Erm, I'd shave the kitten and guinea pig both. If it doesn't work then at least you have the satisfaction of getting to shave your animals.

Go get some dip and dip him. (No pun intended. Mange Dip)

If that don't work, he may be alergic to the bedding, or was kept in an unclean cage.

Just bought him from the store not but 2 hours ago. So it was prolly from other Guinea Pigs
Who would sell this dip? Food Lion, Walmart, Veternarian?

Also should we dip the cat?

Hehe. I shaved our first dog once... he was ugly with fur and uglier without. Poor guy really looked like a rat.

They're probably teddy bear guinea pigs, they have big butts and they don't have any hair on their butts

Wash the guinea pig in lukewarm water (not too hot, not too cold, just right) with Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo or pet shampoo for small animals. Do NOT dunk him in the water so he's in over his head, just enough to keep him immersed - what I used to do was keep the water running and draining simultaneously at the same time. As a matter of fact, keep the soap and water away from his head & eyes entirely or you will definitely hurt him.

Remember when you test the water temperature that it should be the consistency of very lukewarm water - you're dealing with something a quarter size of a small cat, so keep that in mind - do NOT put him in water which is too cold or too hot - I can't reiterate that enough.
