Will my power supply be enough for this setup?

I'm building a dedicated MAME machine. I would like to be able to use an old case and 250 Watt power-supply that I have but I'd like your opinions on whether or not the power supply I have will support the machine.

My current setup is:
AMD 450 K62
EPOX MVP Socket 7 Motherboard
20 GB 4400 RPM hard drive (ripped from a Replay TV--actually a Panasonic Showstopper)
Crystal sound card
HP8100 CDRW
ATI Rage Fury MAXX 64 MB
384 MB PC100 RAM
This setup has worked just fine for me.

My desired setup is:
AMD Duron 1000 (maybe a 950)
Abit K7T Raid Motherboard
384 MB PC100 RAM
20 GB 440 RPM Hard Drive
Crystal sound card
ATI Rage Fury MAXX 64 MB
I will NOT have the CDRW on this machine. I will only need to update this software a couple of times (once I get a rom set to work, I'm not going to mess with it) and when I do need to update the files, I'm going to put the hard drive in my main machine and do the update.

So obviously all I'm changing is the motherboard and the processor. I'd like to not have to get a new power supply, so I'm hoping that all of you will tell me that my powersupply will be fine 🙂

Your existing setup is AT format and the proposed setup is ATX. Neither the case nor the power supply will work without extensive modification that is usually beyond the capabilities of the average bear.

I should have been more clear on the current setup. My current motherboard is EPoX MVP36 which is ATX not AT. Epox did have 2 or 3 MVP## motherboards that were AT, but mine is not. It's definately ATX.

The K6-2 isn't good enough for MAME? Damn, they must have started dipping into the early/mid-90's games!

I haven't had any problems running anything that I've tried (even up to King of Fighters 98) but I'm pretty sure some of them are skipping frames, which I'd like to avoid. Since the only thing I'm changing (hopefully) is the motherboard and processor and the total of the upgrade is about $80 I figured it would be worth it. Plus, when I make my table-top Mame machine that'll only play 80's games, I'll have a processor and motherboard "lying around" (which will make it much easier to convince my wife that I should do it 😉 )

It should be sufficient to use a 250watt ATX case/psu with the Duron 1G setup that you have mentioned.
If you notice stability issues, you might have to swap it out for a 300watt ATX psu, but that's no problem. Then you would have one that you could use with the AMD K62 processor again since you know it works with that.

Make into one of those "cocktail" cabinets.
"Look, Honey! It doubles as a piece of furniture! We can eat dinner and play video games at the same time!" 😀
