I'm RMAing my video card but I would like to be able to see the files on the computer through the network. Will the computer boot up to the windows login w/o a video card?

Thanks,

Flaviu

Not unless you have onboard graphics no. It will just freeze/give up before you even get to BIOS.

You could always remove the HDs and use them as slaves.

Damn...In this case I'd rather take a PCI vid card from an older comp, but it's such a hassle, and then THAT comptuer won't work anymore.

Go garage saleing. Chances are, you will find at least one place with some kind of pci video card somewhere.

I wouldn't plug in a monitor. I'd just like it to run the server it usually does, and so that I can have its files available through the network (viewable from other computers)

It wont freeze up.

Your PC wouldnt give a flying poo if you didnt have a video output connected to it.

It will however be hard to see what your doing if you cant see the screen.

If you can manage to log in and connect to your PC from another PC that would work fine.

OH, so if it won't freeze, then it's perfect.

Again, I don't need to see anything lol, the computer connects to the network even if I don't log in. I just need to access some files, not actually work w/ its operating system and programs.

Only thing I will need to do blind is turn it off.

Thanks guys!

Ahem, if you don't have a graphics CARD or onboard graphics then it won't boot up.

Please note the ever so subtle highlighting of a particular word above.

No, it won't freeze up, beacause it won't boot up at all. The minimum requirements to post are CPU/heatsink and fan, 1 stick of ram, video card(or onboard graphics)..without those, you can't POST let alone boot up.
