I still think you're convoluting it. Twitter has not been a bastion of "free" speech where anything goes - certainly not like 4chan, tumblr, reddit, etc - but have tried to balance free speech with also catering to their advertisers and also not running afoul of the government (where hate speech, inciting violence, etc is generally frowned upon). Musk thinks free speech as a libertarian / absolutist, where the government/business should not dictate what is acceptable/unacceptable - but again that offers no protection against consequences. Whether or not it be someone "canceling" you, being prosecuted for hate speech, or you being fired, those are all mutually independent of free speech.

Let's see, a professional cave diving rescue guy criticized Musk's suggestion of building a mini submarine and Elon decided the consequences of that would be to smear him as a pedophile. I don't think you really get Elon's hypocrisy about free speech just yet.

I never claimed it was a bastion of free speech, I was saying you had free speech with consequences, IE, if you posted certain things, you'd have your account banned. Consequences.
He positioned himself as a free speech absolutist, and is using his business to impose consequences for free speech.

Free speech isn't equivalent to free speech without repercussions. You're absolutely welcome to be a racist but that's going to have consequences. In this case, talking publicly and openly about how much you hate your boss or the issues within the company is going to get you fired.
Yup. Dissent within business must be quelled and eliminated immediately or it becomes cancerous. You cannot sit idle as the likelihood of sabotage grows closer to your livelihood. People have a right to say whatever is on their mind as they're dragged out the door.

It's going well at Twitter. Besides musk going back in his word about his fake moderation team, now this

Meanwhile his local low IQ Canadian fans will keep fanboying.

I personally knew a few peopel who worked at two of his companies.

It is a misconception that he actually likes to talk to people in the company. When he actually talks to you, it means either you fk up something, or he was simply trying to release some steam and you are it. Of course, that means you are likely to see out the door soon.

My friends and those in his teams, plus others that they worked with, are terrified of him showing up...

I read somewhere that the no. of employees dropped from 7,000+ to 50, and yet the system continues to run.

I used to do a lot of social media work on Twitter before I got cancer….Advertisers appear to be running away in droves….the place is becoming a toxic cesspool of name calling & arguing sprinkled with hate.

It's not nearly that bad, but the headcount is now more like 2,750... just 50 wouldn't even be enough to keep the lights on.
