AT&T has quite a big debt right? Do you think microsoft will bail out AT&T? If they want to build up to their .NET application servers, they are going to need some major bandwidth...and AT&T owns a whole bunch of the major backbones do they not?

What do you think?

And how much more powerful would it make Microsoft if they were to pick some of AT&T's assets?

Not trying to prophecy doom or anything here, it's just something a friend and I were talking about and I was thinking about some other peoples opinions. What do you think on the subject?

Perhaps I'm overstating AT&T's debt...but I don't know where to look for it 😉

Microsoft doesn't have enough cash left over after paying off the U.S. national debt and making all of the citizens of the U.S. their b!tches.

Actually many more US corporations are taking on huge debt loads due to the tax benefits it gives them.

Most of the repayment of this debt is a huge tax deduction for them, the dispursement of profits in the form of dividends for stockholders is not decuctible at all. The more debt you carry, the more "creative" your accounting can be as to how the debt is classified, and how the payments of said debt are put on the books.

Which would you choose?
