Will long term interference cause damage to monitors?

Hey everyone!

I have dual monitors that i use. one for TV and the other for gaming/net and ect. anyway it seems like one of the monitors is getting interference from the other one. on the right side of my main monitor the screen shakes a little. It's not really noticable. It can get annoying after awhile though.

But i'm Just wondering if it'll cause any long term damage. It's a mix matched pair of monitors and it only happens on one of them, but when the 2nd monitor is turned off the shaking stops.

The monitor that is shaking probably has some poor magnetic sheilding, or the sheilding has been damaged.

In answer to your question, yes, through time it will get damaged.

Are they plugged into the same outlet? At work when one of the employees has a little space heater plugged into the outlet it causes the monitor to shake (they are nowhere near each other). So I suppose if you have a bad outlet this could cause it too, not getting enough power or something. Though, more than likely it is the magnetic shielding.

Yep, same outlet. I'll try em off different outlets.

If it's the mag shielding is there anything i can do?

Not really no, it wouldnt be worth it.

Of course like most things, you could get it repaired, but you would be better off buying a new monitor.

CRT's are so cheap these days ya know.

why not coat the interfering one's insides with aluminum foil? plus, it keeps the aliens out.

Aluminum foil does nothing to block magnetic fields, you need a high permeability metal to have any affect on magnetic fields.

BTW monitors interfering with each other will not harm either one. It is just annoying to the user.
