I am starting out on build my own dream PC.

I have just purchased a 266 fsb 1.4 Ghz Athlon. The Motherboard I intend to get is the ASUS A7V133. Unfortunately AMD do not recommend this MOBO. Yet i've heard that this is one of the best for socket A athlons. Will this mobo support a 266fsb 1.4 Ghz athlon or will i have to look at another make of mobo????

Just make sure that you have a PS that can source enough current on the 5V supply. See the AMD approved list and save yourself potential stability issues.

The ASUS A7V133 doesn't support 266MHz front side bus. On the other hand, the A7V133A will support 200 and 266MHz FSB.

Go for the A7V133A (unless is what you meant in your original post).

I was just looking at configuring a system like this A7V133A & 1.4 GHz Atholon AMD. So these work well together? no big conflicts? AND where can i find the BEST price on these two items. Or can anyone suggest a better setup. I have a P-233 tower with usb ports that i want to gut and stick something like this in, will it work ok? ill check the power supply and post the results, it also has PS2 ports for the mouse and keyboard ( if that is wut u call them) i am new to PCs i am a BIG mac guy but i need to run good old 3D studio Max so i want to get a cheap pc that rocks!! also whats a good price on a Video Card that is decent for 3D? Thanks, also I am a newbie to this board and it ROCKS keep up the great info!!!
