So I am wanting to get a 144hz monitor. But when I look on websites about the motherboards Asrock Motherboard comparison. Why would i get a 144hz monitor then, it doesnt even support it. When i looked up at the max Z97 models it didnt even say anything about how much it supports. The 144hz is a 1920x 1080. So, officially, does it only support 60hz and why do ppl get 144hz monitors then? Should i still be getting the 144hz monitor and there are ways to go around it or something? Plz info.

The 144Hz monitors are for gaming, so why would you want to use onboard graphics for gaming? Get a decent video card, or don't bother getting a gaming monitor.

I am get the r9 290. So as long as i have that I can have as good as monitor i want as long as my gpu can support it? So the ports on the motherboard can go to 144hz no prob?

Like everyone has already said if you are using a dedicated gpu then you are plugging directly into it and not the mb ports which are for the onboard graphics only.
