Unless some one concededly have exact copy of your hardware, it hard to understand what you are talking about.

You should explain the actual nature of the connections. I.e. what the PS2 use to connect to MS Base, what is the nature of the USB adapter you are talking about...
 
Yes that will work, assuming the PS2's broadband adapter can configure itself to use the base station. (I just bought that same base station earlier this week - in the manual there's a setup describing exactly what you listed, only with a XBox instead)
