This is why they employed slaves. Euro-bred Americans figured it was too hot down south for a white man to handle.
Also there's this fiber called linen, wind blows right through it. Dries fast. It's almost like not wearing a shirt.
Linen is awesome, but not at real high humidity. The point of high humidity is that the atmosphere is already saturated with water, so the wind doesn't dry anything :eek:

I now recall a story about friend of a relative who lived in AZ. She used to carry a potholder in her purse for opening the car door etc. That and the mention of mild 1st degree burn is pretty scary.

Have the people in Phoenix painted the roofs white or silver to reflect the heat?
Yep. White is standard, silver less common. We just had our roof re-coated this year. I can walk around on the roof at mid-day in high summer in bare feet and the roof is cool to the touch. Of course, the tops of my feet get cooked doing that.
