I compared the dimensions of the Centurion 5 with my SonataIII and i vouch for you that it will fit any kind of cooler you throw at it. I have a Tuniq Tower 120... how much bigger do you want to get? The thing is i don't trust the OCZ Vendetta 2 or the XIGMATEK S1283 because of their base. Theoretically, the excange happens faster with the heatpipes sitting directly on top of the cpu, but... i just don't trust having a base made of multiple pieces. And another thing that completely sucks are the pushpins which are a bad invention with good intentions. Aluminium or steel... maybe... plastic, never!

By the way, i have my Q6600@3.4GHz@1.28V@33/33/28/28 with my Tuniq set on the lowest speed but i have the case open but even with it closed, it won't get higher than 34/34/30/30, provided you have good airflow of course (which is sadly not my case).
 
I've got the S1283 & haven't had any problems with it.
Granted, when I first got it, it took me a while to figure out the push-pin thingies, but once I did, it's a piece of cake to install/uninstall.
If you're concerned with the push-pins, contact Xigmatek...they can hook you up w/a backplate & screw-type setup.
If you're on a budget, i'd go that route.
 
But how flat is that base? i don't know why it doesn't seem like a very good idea to me. However, i'd really like to see a comparison between the Tuniq and the Xigmatek. Having the possibility to screw it in place makes things much much better. After you get one of them, can you please post some temps?
 
About the Xigmatek back plate. I bought the s1283 and contacted them about their free backplate offer. They said that was no longer being offered. So I went with the sidewindercomputers backplate. They shipped fast and it worked like a charm.
 
I went with the Vendetta 2 and since I'm not a fan of the push pins I used a 775 bolt-thru
kit from Thermalright.Works great.I would recommend attaching the sink first then the fan.
Using AS5 I'm running Prime 95 445x9 1.31v (load) ambient 19c load temps 53-55 per
Real Temp 2.4

I just got the backplate kit in today & haven't gotten a chance to test it.
However, I have had a Tuniq and a Big Typhoon installed & the Xigmatek (w/the pushpins) equals the Tuniq. Actually, I think I get a little better overclock w/the Xigmatek.
I'll post results when I get around to getting the backplate installed.
As far as the flatness of the base goes, I haven't put a square up to it or anything like that. It doesn't have a mirror finish either, but I ain't into all that. 🙂
 
I'm looking for a better cooler than my freezer 7 pro but I know a TRUE won't fit in MY CASE. Not many options since most coolers now are ~130+ in height.

Actually, all the heatpipe coolers including those by ThermalRight are made of "multiple pieces." On the earlier models, the pipes are soldered to two plates -- one of which is the part that mates with the IHS. These newer models still seem to use the same "soldering" or welding technology, but the missing base-plate would make the assembly seem more vulnerable to damage of the solder-joints. Even so, if you only install the unit once or seldom remove and replace it, I rather doubt that this construction is a serious factor in "longevity."
 
I know Bonzai, i realised that the moment i saw the Vendetta and the Xigmatex, but i simply don't trust multiple pieces together to form a surface as perfectly flat as a single piece. Perfectly is too much said but you get the point.

These are big coolers, pretty heavy, especially with the fan on. I don't mean to say they aren't good, no way, they're very good, but still, this type of construction doesn't really make me feel better. There's just an idea about using multiple pieces as a base that doesn't make me comfortable. But, if i get the chance, i will test one but i'll use a desktop case or better yet, none.

In any way, i strongly suggest not to get one of these if you change parts often or simply like testing things. The previous gen had that bottom plate that held the soldered heatpipes in place and was screwed on, this doesn't have one and flatness can easily go out the window. period!
