I assume I will be receiving the same motherboard (may be a different revision) in return. If I connect everything back the same, will it boot?

Sounds like a trick question :p but here goes, Yes...assuming the motherboard was the issue in the first place, you had everything connected correctly to begin with, and the replacement doesn't have any problems :)

Unfortunately no tricks here, I'm a computer dullard. I wanted to see if I get a different version, would I be screwed.

You may not get the same mobo back. Sometimes after testing, if it's bad, they will just ship a new (or refurbished mobo) for your time convenience, then they will repair and send that mobo to another RMA'er, or trash it if it's too expensive to repair. Check you serial number to see if it's the same board.

BUT, your main concern... if they send it back it has presumably been repaired and should work (and boot)... If it doesn't re-check the premise that it's a bad board and re-RMA it!!
