Will it be good?

ok people right now I have my old ATI X700PRO 256mb card(AGP). I was thinking of using that until I can get my dual GTs and new motherboard, so I was thinking of going with the Asrock 939Dual. My other specs will be:

AMD Athlon X2 4400+
OCZ platinum 2gig (2x1gig)
Western Digi 250gig SATAII drive 16mb
Thermaltake Big Tyhoon
NEC 3550A Drive
Enermax Liberty 500W PSU
and a Lian-Li v1000 case.

Im upgrading from a

socket 478 2.8 P4 with 512mb (2x256 not dual channel, I dont think) some unknown Motherboard with a 266W PSU (its a Vaio RS610)

I was wondering if that Asrock gives alot of problems, and if I will see a performance change with the X700PRO with the new setup.

Plz give me some feedback.

Ok thoughts durr...

Why are you watercooling? If to overclock, then change your cpu to opteron 170, and the ram to some pc4000 2X1GB ram...

Not sure about the asrock mobo.

water cooling? its Big Tphoon not big water lol. Im hoping the mobo isnt hard to setup because this is mt first time putting a pc together. if there was somekind of AGP to PCI-E or AGP to PCI id buy my new mobo now, but I dont think theres such thing.

Will I see any performance increase with gaming though?

My bad.
I thought it was the water cooling kit hahaha. 🙂...... ........ *continues*....

You would see a slight increase, but that x700 will bottleneck your computer.

bottleneck

n : a narrowing that reduces the flow through a channel [syn: constriction, chokepoint] v 1: slow down or impede by creating an obstruction; "His laziness has bottlenecked our efforts to reform the system" 2: become narrow, like a bottleneck; "Right by the bridge, the road bottlenecks"

it won't be fast enough to keep up with the proccesoor and other stuff. the main slow down will be it. if yu change it you will get a higher performance cuz it no more bottle necking your system.

ok changed it. Decide to get a not so expensive case.

X2 4400+
XFX 7800GT
OCZ Platinum 2gigs (2x1gig)
Enermax Liberty 500W

Is there a difference between the A8N32-SLI and A8N-SLI Premium? or should I go for a DFI?

the premium has the fancy heatpipe chipset cooler and dual-channel PCI-e x16 (i.e. if you have SLI on any other board, each card will run at x8 (still perfectly acceptable, iirc x4 isnt even maxed out), on the a8n32-sli, both will run at x16)

the rest of that setup is good

yea but with the A8n32 I heard the Southbridge fan doesnt last more than 2 months. Is the southbridge fan connected to that heat pipe thing?

no. will you be overclocking? cause if you are, the 3800 can easily get to 4400 speeds. you can get a 165 or 170 opteron if you plan on OCing
