Will Intel release a new chipset for IB-e?

How many SATA ports I need and what I do with my money is none of your concern, I was asking about a possible motherboard revision, not financial advice.

Guys keep everything positive.

Let's all agree:

1. Intel is dropping the ball in the fact that all we have to look forward to is a few more USB 3.0 ports

2. There should 100% be more than 2 SATA 6GBP ports.

It is a bit difficult to remain "enthusiastic" about what is essentially a warmed over two year old platform with a "new" CPU that won't compete with the IPC of the desktop line.

I am waiting till haswell E for Platform upgrade most likely.

Ok, but will the chips be better than the current new i7??? Something tells me the only difference is a slight change. I'd really like to upgrade. But it does not make much sense.

In multithreading they will have an edge, but for gaming they will be worse.

IB-E might come out ahead in Crysis3, which is fairly heavily threaded, and there might be some games coming out this holiday season that can use the power of IB-E, but most would say it is foolish to base a purchase on this sort of speculation, and I guess I have to agree. I still want one anyway, but sense may yet prevail.

For people on i3 chips I think its better to go Haswell.

I'm interested in either Ivy-E or Haswell-E purely for benchmarking. I'm curious to know whether the IHS will be soldered or if they will use thermal paste and glue. A chipset revision would be nice. Native USB 3.0 that works. Not so much worried about the number of SATA ports as I'll only have a single SSD attached.

IB-E ES CPUs have been seen to be soldered, but I'm afraid there will be no X79 refresh. Maybe some new X79 boards.

New boards would be nice. I'm hoping ASRock comes out with an x79 OC Formula with the LCD like on the z87 board
