The Canadian ambassador to Iceland said, inappropriately according to some sources, some in Iceland are floating a proposal to adopt the loonie as their currency. Ottawa said it doesnt comment publicly on other countries currencies but they have not outright said no.
The loonie might work well for them, better than the Euro or American dollar. Canada has a very stable currency and economy, reasonable national debt that is being addressed in a responsible manner, and a well-regulated banking system that has weathered two major depressions admirably.

Of course this proposal might never see the light of day but it is a compliment to us Canadians. We may be dull with regard to economic matters, but as former Ontario premier Bill Davis said: "Dull works." :sneaky:

According to the Department of Finance, two small regional banks failed in the mid-1980s, the only such failures since 1923, which is the year Home Bank failed. There were no bank failures during the Great Depression compared to 9000+ in the US.
