Will I need to reformat?

Right now I have an Asus A7N8X Deluxe that I am running RAID on (striping). I am ugrading to an Athlon 64 and a MSI K8N Neo2 Plat, which I am also planning on using RAID on. Will I need to reformat Windows (XP Pro SP1) or will the raid work once I set up the controller on the new board? I use DriveImage to backup the array weekly (on an external 1394 drive), so I guess I could restore that image if I had to reformat right?

new motherboard always calls for a reinstall, recommend a full format/reinstall. You will blue screen right at the boot screen if you don't. Windows can't plug n play chipset drivers.

Actually, as I think of it, you should be using the same mobo drivers! nVidia uses the same nForce drivers for the nForce2 & 3 chipsets; nForce4 is the first one with its only chipset drivers. At least give booting up a try, it very well might work I have no idea how the RAID will come into play, but time will tell I guess 😉

i'd reformat... probably a waste of time trying to clean everything from the old mobo out to achieve max performance- i have no idea on the raid ive never used it.
