Yes you do need a floppy. When you load your OS (assuming its XP) it will ask you if you have any 3rd party scsi/sata drivers that need be installed and if so hit F6. Then insert your floppy with the correct drivers (go to VIA's website or Promise's which ever your going to use for your raptor) and dnld onto the floppy the latest sata drivers. I use the promise controller, but I have heard that the VIA controller is better. Dont ask me why lol just what I have read.
