Will I have Live! trouble?

I just ordered a new computer -- A7M266 w/ 1.33 Thunderbird and the SB Live! Platinum.

Should I expect to have problems with the Live! as others have been having, or is that mostly limited to VIA-chipsets (and not the AMD760+VIA that the A7M266 has?)

Thanks!

It's a hit or miss for most of us. If your motherboard has built-in sound, make sure its disabled in your bios. Load the sb live drivers when it detects the soundcard during boot, and enjoy.

did you already buy the sblive plat?

if not, you can guarantee better sound quality and a lot less problems with a herc game theatre XP, not to mention a ton of more cable to hickies (no remote, sorry)

otherwise, never fear..they are working on fixes, and sp2 and some of the sp2 patches might help, if for example it sticks you sblive on the same ira as your ide controllers (like in my case)

Actually, just cancel the driver installation when windows detects the card after a reboot. Then when in windows install the drivers off the CD(Platinum 5.1?)

I've used/use the Live card with VIA sets and have had very good luck. I always install the cards one at a time to make troubleshooting easier, and usualy use the 4th pci slot for sound (it seems to like living there better 😉 ).

Good luck with it.
