System Specs:

Intel E6700 2.66 GHZ Dual Core CPU (w/ aftermarket copper heat sink and thermal paste)
1 x XFX 9800GX2 GPU
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L Motherboard
4 GB OCZ DDR2 1066 Ram
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Extreme Music Soundcard
Zalman ZM-1000HP 1000 watt PSU
Samsung 2693HM 25.5" LCD @ 1920x1200
Antec P180 Mid-ATX case
Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard
Logitech G5 Gaming Laser Mouse
Creative Inspire 5.1 speakers
Windows XP Professional SP2

I have never worried about heat management before or done much about it. I don?t have Riva or Ntune (pr whatever) fan management or Everest heat tracking software. I have the three stock fans in my Antec P180 at normal speeds. However, I took the fan out of the PSU compartment (wouldn?t fit with the Zalman) and put it in the front drive bay blowing on to the GPU. The Fan at the top of the back wall and the one at the back of the top wall blow out.

Ideally, I just want to leave my machine as is and do nothing. So far, it has worked well for a week. But I haven?t gamed for more than 3 hours at a time. Do you think I can keep on doing nothing? Or with a 9800Gx2 do I really need to worry about heat?

I have no overclocks of any kind.

If it ain't broke dont' fix it.

BUT, I would check the GPU temps occassionally just in case.. also, have you considered riva tuner to jack up the fan speed a bit? I went from a fan speed of 51% TO 71% (with a 7 degree drop in idle temps) with out any noticable change in noise...
