I have one 4770k .4.5 overclocked and I was thinking to upgrade to new cpu./
Now I have one 780 gtx and one old monitor which ls lg flatron 27 size tn..

At 1440p will I have bottleneck if I will; buy one new 2080 ti card and one new gaming 27" WQHD 1440p IPS 165Hz monitor ;
The most games will have bottleneck with my 4770k;; and 27" WQHD 1440p IPS 165Hz monitor ; with one 2080 ti;
also the most games need 6 or 8 cores;';;

Please no need to shout. The vast majority of games are highly GPU bound and as long as you have a decent CPU, you should be fine. However some multi-player games do benefit from more cores/threads, namely those which have high numbers of players.

Well this does vary from game to game. A overclocked 4770k is still has respectable performance. Even with games that do benefit from higher core counts, they benefit even more so from higher IPC and clockspeeds.

Given how much the 2080 Ti costs, I would be pairing it with a recent higher end CPU. A 2080Ti is something I would get for a new high end build not upgrading an older one.

No, I think it will do fine with most games. But there are also a lot that could use a better CPU. Best to get the video card, see how it does on the games YOU play, then decide.

With an unlimited budget, sure, I would just go for a 9900k right off with that video card.

What games are you playing? I doubt that you will notice much if any of a bottleneck in "most" games.

The OP will be better just building a really nice completely new system instead.

An overclocked 4770 will not bottleneck a 2080ti 99% of the time.
Even that one percent will still be over 80fps instead of 100fps, so no big deal.

These are bottlenecks that are only noticed in benchmarks, not in reality.

As others have pointed out, if all you do is run benchmarks then you might notice something. But if you actually USE it to oh I dunno, play games for example you won't notice any difference at all.

Also depends on whether he's seriously gonna try to hit 165MHz in anything modern, or if he just wants it for older titles (eSports etc). Sounds like he's bought some expensive hardware without really thinking through how he wants to use it.

That 4770k won't stop him from hitting 165 fps in something like Dota2 or CS:GO. If he's trying to push frames like that in anything newer then he should be shooting for the highest per-core performance he can get with 6c minimum. Which probably means a 9700k, or a 9900k with HT disabled (for the extra L3). With bad-ass RAM to keep minfps high.

Generally, gaming at 1440P is mostly GPU bound but the 2080 Ti has changed that somewhat. To answer your question, yes, you will be bottlenecked by your CPU a bit.

I upgraded from a 3770K @ 4.7GHz (similar to a 4770K @ 4.5GHz) to a 8700K at 5.0GHz. Yes, games do run better, particularly titles that can take advantage of 6 cores like BF1, and now BFV. Can you always tell the difference with all games? No. Some games are less CPU intensive, where even a 3770K or 4770K in your case will be enough to 'max out' the game.

In general, you're probably looking at a 10 - 15% improvement in gaming by upgrading to the latest 8700K / 9700K / 9900K, but that is very game dependant. Some games will show no gains, while others may show up to 30% higher performance.

If you're already spending $2000 on the GPU and monitor, maybe upgrading to the latest CPUs could be worth the investmemt to get the most out of your gear.

The best way to decide that is to actually run the games on your current gear. If you want to see if you are CPU bottlenecked, there is an easy way to tell: run the game at 1440P then 1080P. If you are CPU bottlenecked, you will see very similar performance between the two resolutions. If you aren't, then the 1080P numbers should be significantly higher.

I myself am perfectly fine with 2560x1600@60Hz as long as I can get reasonable framerates in the games I play. With the current ones I have my GTX 970 has enough performance for that.

The 2070/2080 will have to come way down in price for me to consider upgrading. And I am far less likely to upgrade my display on top of that.
