Will i get microstutter?

Hi, building a new rig, and cant really determine if i should go for 2 cards or 1.

Im afraid of microstutter so if someone who knows about this could please judge and explain, that would be great.

I have a 2560x1440 screen and thinking about either:

1 x 6990 4GB ram
2 x 6970 2GB ram (basically the same as 1x6990)
1 x 580gtx with 3GB ram
2 x 580gtx with 2gb ram

I want to play bf3 on ultra btw.

From what I've read microstutter is most noticable with mid to low-end cards, if you see it at all. There's nothing low-end in what you posted.

You will but you may not notice it. I suggest you try it out before you buy your own dual card setup. If you have a Microcenter or Fry's near you they usually have a rig setup with dual cards.

It isn't the cards that make microstuttering apparent. It's the FPS. IF you are anywhere below say 50 fps it will be noticeable.

I went dual card and am quite happy with it. Microstutter exists, but as long as the frame rate is high enough, it's not so likely that you'll notice it.

If you overclock and don't have an unlimited budget, two 2GB 6950's is probably a good choice.

The general rule is that a single card @ 90% the performance of dual cards is the breakeven point. 2x6950 2gb is a LOT faster than any single card and is probably the best bang/buck for your resolution right now.
