Will i get dinged with Duties on shipments from Canada? (UPS)

I want to buy a lowepro bag from a seller in Ontario, Canada (32,000+ ratings).

Says he ships UPS, will i get hit w/ Import Duties when it arrives?

i get pegged with duties everytime something gets shipped to me, but i dont know if it works 2 ways!

Ask him to declare the item at a really low value. You must be allowed to import small dollar amount, duty free.

I think you may get hit with a UPS "Brokerage" Fee....... I know when I bought something from the US into Canada.......... UPS charged me a $35 "Brokerage" fee to process all the paper work. That is why I ask things to be shipped using USPS......... only $5 processing fee.

I think all couriers charge such fees.

How can i find out about UPS Brokerage fee?

According to UPS, i only see Brokerage Fee's if you ship to canada, not from

I havent bought the item yet, im trying to get an estimate on how much.

Shipper only sends UPS.

Canadian Taxes : Ontario (15% GST+PST), Nova Scotia Newfoundland Newbrunswick (15% HST), the rest of Canada (7% GST). There is no duties when shipping to Canadian addresses.

whenever I ship things between the US/Canada or vice versa I always claim a value of $40...end up paying $5 or so only in duties...no big deal

someone did that to my brothers $1100 guitar and they held it for investigation- for four months. neither party knew where it went. sometimes its not smart to try to outsmart customs

I've never had to pay any duties when things have been sent to me, but when I send things to canada, it seems that they always have to pay. I've purchased a Snowboard ($700) and many other things, all declared for their actual value, and I've never had to pay... not sure why.
